Sunday Morning OpportunitiesSunday School, 9:45-10:45 am All children infants through 5th grade will start Sunday school in the Sanctuary for music time and announcements at 9:45 am. This is during the school year. Special Sunday morning events in the summer will be publicized separately.
Nursery Class Infants and toddlers will attend class in Room E 203 (nursery) following music until 10:45. The teacher leads the lesson* with story, music, video, simple craft, and play.2 & 3 Year Olds 2 and 3 year olds will attend class in Room E 202 following music until 10:45. The teacher leads the lesson* with story, craft, play and of course a little snack time. 4 & 5 Year Olds, Pre-Kindergarten Pre-Kindergarteners will attend class in Room E 204 following music until 10:45. The teacher leads the lesson* which will include story, craft, music, play time, and snack.
*Deep Blue age specific Curriculum is used for these classes.Kindergarten-5th grade K-5 will rotate through art, games, drama, and movies as they learn a different bible lesson each month. Parents, caregivers, and other adults are encouraged to help guide the students to their classroom and stay to participate with the children. These are our “Guardian Angels” and we need many! The various rotations are led by adults who specialize in those areas. Special mission and outreach events are held at least once a quarter for the whole group to take part in.
Nursery care is available for children during the Saturday and Sunday worship services. On Sunday mornings, we also have our Prayground space in the Sanctuary available for children to be kids while being in the worship service. At Ames First UMC, it’s okay for kids to make noise and move around!
Wednesday Evening OpportunitiesKids’ Club (PreK – 5th Grade), Wednesdays: 6:30-7:30 p.m., room E206 Kids’ Club is open to children Pre-K through 5th grade. This program has our kids learning how to live like Christ through Bible study, memory verse, hands on activities such as science experiments, crafts, scavenger hunts, games and putting all of their knowledge of living like Christ into action through various service learning projects. The different age groups work well together as they help one another and often times “buddy up” to do the many fun things. This group meets during the school year starting in early September and ending in early May. Special weekday events for the summer will be publicized separately. Special Family and Intergenerational Events Throughout the year, many family and intergenerational events are scheduled that involve mission and outreach as well as time to get to know each other and have fun together too.
